How to use the oil dipstick: step by step
- Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes.
Wait for the engine to cool slightly. This allows the oil to drain completely into the sump, allowing for a more accurate measurement. - Carefully remove the dipstick.
Pull the rod all the way out and wipe the tip with a clean cloth or paper. - Reinsert the dipstick fully.
After cleaning, put the rod back in place until it stops. - Remove it again and check the level.
Observe the oil level and compare it to the minimum and maximum marks. The ideal level is between these two marks.

In addition to the level, the dipstick also helps identify whether the oil is in good condition.
- Clean oil has a light, yellowish or slightly golden color.
